Hi there! I’m so glad to be able to host Day in a Sentence again! (Thanks, Kevin!) Day in a Sentence is a weekly opportunity to join together with people from around the world in boiling down one of your days into one sentence.
Since many of us are teachers who are leaving our work-filled school year and entering our (work-filled?) summer vacations, I thought it would be fun to focus on transitions: What changes are you going through in your job, your home, your life? How do you deal with change? How does it deal with you?
Also, if you have a picture or audio file (or whatever else) you’d like to add into the mix, by all means send them along!
The plan:
- Reflect on your week or one day in it.
- Write about it in a single reflective sentence.
- Send it to me via the comment box at the bottom of this post.
- I’ll put everyone’s sentences together and publish them sometime this Sunday.

New puppy, new home, moving, end of year exams, students graduating, closing ceremonies, packing – all of this in a 10 day period of frenzy supported by the most fantastic friends, family, colleagues, and students.
While I don’t teach in my own school or classroom anymore, I am teaching with teachers, and on Tuesday night, after a year-long digital storytelling project ended, we presented to the board and as one project seems to end, a new one rises. I always have trouble coming to the end of something and then I take the next step.
I can never see that next step until I finish walking through the moment.

My transition from a winter teacher to a summer learner has so far taken me through two Second Life workshops, and now I am enrolled in one on the basics of distance learning (I mean teaching), all offered by the Sloan Consortium.
I now go from private to public and from theory to practice as I say prepare to say good-bye to my long-standing childrens English group and venture into the primary school classroom to teach English and not just tell other teachers how to do it.

A new lifestyle of sleeping late, exercising, writing, and playing the guitar awaits.
Whoo hoo, end of the school year.
Turning thirty-three makes me think that this will be the best year of my life! :)
i have turned a corner i can never return from – life is no longer about myself and my husband, but me, him, and the kid we’re trying to create. :)
I am visiting Washington, DC, a place I lived years ago; I expect both it and I will have changed.
And so draws near the summer of our days
while watching childhood swell a wild expanse
of rainbows blushed with the sun’s undying rays
lavishing jollity in spectral dance:
then our past childhood days with all their charm
link with our children’s dancing arm in arm.

Working, when surrounded by friends and saturated in laughter, no longer feels like work.
Ahh, the coming of summer is a palpable thing as we start to remove all the displays around the room that have anchored us to our days in the classroom.
My feet hurt, but my spirits soar as I put in a full work week doing something I love.

School’s out, Adair and Tommy LaRue are back in Dallas, and for the first time in a long time,I’ve allowed myself to spend this week doing nothing except what I want to do like reading, writing, and playing mindless video games, and sometimes cooking for my husband!
It is winter here in Australia now, no sign of transition for another 6 months, instead I am in the midst of school reports and correction for the half way mark through our school year.
Coming out of hiding.
The suddenness of year end checklists in my staff mailbox, the looming report card deadlines, and the necessity of cramming in stuff, both literally and figuratively, all makes the transition from school to summer break my least favourite annual transition.
My garden is drowning for attention, to many rainy days.
