I haven’t been updating much around here, and I feel bad about it because I really want to get in the habit of posting regularly about education here the way I have at my personal website. I do post a lot about education at Twitter, which is archived here, but it’s just not the same.
Anyway, I recently got an email from an educator in California who was interested in my tardy form (see posts here and here). She wanted to use it to help guide her school in revising their tardy policy, only she wasn’t able to download it because the code was broken.
When I switched to this theme a year or so ago, a lot of the formatting I’d done with my previous theme was lost, which resulted in a bunch of breakdowns. I’ve gone back and fixed a lot of them, but there are so many posts that’s it’s been quite an overwhelming task.
So I went back to the possible offending posts. (Searching here did no good because, along with the code here and there, my search has stopped working on me, too. I had to do a Google search for “tardy” and “mrshawke.” Wah!) When I was fixing the code on the two tardy form posts, I realized that I’ve never posted my most recent version of the form.
I can’t believe I never posted it because I was really crazy over it with its striping and additional blank line to add notes. (Both have proved very helpful to me, I know!)
I know it may sound weird, but formatting papers is one of my favorite hobbies. I guess it goes back to my background in journalism and design. I loved page-editing, fixing everything on a page so that it all fit and that it all fit the stylesheet I was working with.
In addition to sending the latest version to Maricela, I wanted to post it here, just in case it may be helpful to you. :-)
