  1. GWHS should NOT require students to wear school uniforms. It is unfair to student because most of the students from GWHS came from a middle school that had a school uniform for 3 years so students should be able to wear they want. School uniforms make students want to skip school or ignore the uniform rule. Wearing school uniforms will create more dress code problems then fix them. Students will go against the dress code puposefully because they dont like the uniform and because they dont care if they get in trouble for it. There is also no reason for the students of GWHS to be required to wear a school uniform.

    • Samiya, I totally agree with your comment! School uniforms are so boring, we’re now in high school, so we shouldn’t be treated like children anymore.

    • Samiya, I agree with what you said. Coming from Westwood Middle School and having to wear uniforms for three years it was very challenging to meet the requirements of wearing a uniform and coming to school every day with the right colored shirt every day.

  2. GWHS should not require students to wear a school uniform because most students would not like it and some probably won’t even wear it. Some reasons why most students would not like the school uniform are because they wouldn’t just want to wear something plain; they want to show others how they can dress and what kind of clothes they have and their style of clothing. The clothes to them represent how much money they have and their personality. Some students probably won’t even wear the uniforms because some use the school for a fashion show, to show everything. Some other students are just not the type to wear uniforms or they do not fit their style.

    • Jamyra I honestly 100% agree with you. You said the exact truth and exactly what I’ve been thinking. You truthfully took the words out of my mouth. You did a great job on your prompt.

    • Jamrya I agree with you GWHS should not require students to wear a uniform. Uniforms stop stunners form expressing themselves

  3. GWHS students should not be required to wear a school uniform. Everyone is in high school now, we shouldn’t all have to dress a like. Students should be allowed to express themselves. However, it would be nice if boys started wearing belts and their pants on their waist instead of below their butt. Some of us freshmans just came from Westwood and Bonner Middle School, so we’re all tired of dressing in a uniform. Even if we did have a dress code here, everyone would end up breaking the rules. So, no, I do not think George Washington High School students should be required to wear a uniform.

    • Makayla, i agree with your statement 100%. I most definitely agree that even though GWHS has a dress code, everyone isnt going to follow it. I also agree with you on the boys wearing their pants higher up on their waist instead of having them hang low.

  4. Students at GWHS should not be required to wear uniform. They should not make students wear uniforms because school is not about what you wear but it’s about what you learn. As long as you are learning it should not matter. Uniforms will take away from students individuality. Uniforms should not be required because it may take away from how students really feel about school. This why GWHS should not require students to wear uniforms.

    • Imani, I agree with this statement all the way. What you wear to school everyday doesn’t have anything to do with what you learn. And it’s also very true that school uniforms will take away from students individuality.

  5. GWHS students should not be required to wear any uniform or have to dress according to a dress code. Majority of the students at GWHS came from Bonner and Westwood Middle Schools, and have had to wear uniforms and follow a dress code for 3 years. On behalf of all the students at GWHS, there shouldn’t be a dress code at all. School is about learning and getting your education, students shouldn’t have to dress a certain way in order to attend school and face consequences for not dressing according to a dress code. Some students like to express themselves with the way they dress and a dress code takes away that freedom. This is why GWHS should not make students dress according to a dress code of any kind.

  6. This Is Highschool, the freshman obviously just came from middle school,we had dress code there. If dress code becomes relevant here, the school will become worse than what it is. Even though we already have a dress code it’s not bad. All of these rules make people feel restricted, like this is jail or something. We are finally in highschool away from the middle school dress code we don’t want or need the dress code following is from middle to high school. We just got to highschool we shouldn’t be treated like kids and told what to where now. We don’t need a dress code and if we get one what’s going to change?

    • Ashanti, I agree with your statement completely. Most of us are students coming from Westwood or Bonner Middle school we are very well familiar with uniforms, and we all couldn’t wait to come to GWHS and finally be away from uniforms that is what most of us have been waiting for. Like you said it’s like if we are in jail or something, wearing the same color every single day we want to express ourselves. By having a uniform policy we would not be able to do that so we DO NOT need uniforms!

  7. GWHS students should not be required to wear a dress code. As most students have stated, many freshmen came from Bonner and Westwood Middle Schools that had a school uniform. School dress codes make it hard for students to express who they are, or how they feel. Besides, there could be financial problems. Most students can not afford to buy new school clothes, so they can only wear what they already have.

    • Amariana, I honestly agree to what your saying in this statement. Students that come from other schools that had to wear uniforms would not like to wear another uniform. Most students do want to express how they feel and some might have financial problems and have to where what they already have.

    • I totally agree with this comment! As a former Bonner student, I know how it feels to wear the same thing as everyone else and I absolutely hated it!

    • Amariana , you are absolutely right ! I totally agree with you regards to the financial crisis that some students may experience while going threw this dress code debacle !

  8. GWHS should not require students to have a set dress code. Having rules, like no inappropriate clothing, is fine, but having an actual uniformed dress code is crazy and that’s when I think GWHS should draw the line. Clothes express who you are, and if you wear the exact same thing as the person next to you, then that’s one part of who you are missing. Clothes don’t affect how you learn. If someone came to school in a suit and someone came in their pajamas, then they would learn the exact same lesson in class. Clothes don’t have magical powers that suck the will to learn out of you. In conclusion, GWHS should NOT make students have a uniformed dress code. Rules concerning inappropriate clothing is fine, but having a set dress code where everyone wears the same thing, is not okay!

    • Jayden I totally agree with what you are saying. Coming from Bonner I understand and know the irritation of having to wear the same color everyday! I mean like don’t we all get tired of wearing the same color and seeing everyone else around you wearing the same color? I agree that we should have certain clothing rules, like I hate to see people with shirts that shows their belly button;like no,no one wants to see your belly button! My opinion is bias, but then again;UNIFORMS SUCK! I don’t think that not having a uniform policy in GWHS affects the way of learning,I don’t wear a uniform anymore and i still do good in school. Uniforms have nothing to do with learning,it’s the person learning and not succeeding. It’s fine having rules that indicates what we can and can not wear, because otherwise people would come to school looking like they’re about to go to the club or they’re out in the hood. I can not stand seeing girls with shirts that shows their belly buttons nor can I stand seeing guys with their pants half way down;so I understand why there’s a dresscode, but there’s no need for a uniform policy. In conclusion, having a uniform policy is a bias opinion. We should all get a chance to get to express ourselves with what we wear

  9. I think that GWHS should have a school uniform. If GWHS has a school uniform and everyone looks the same then it would make everyone feel as if they are all equal. This will allow a school environment to go smoother and focus on the main goal which is learning instead of looking at how someone else looks. If everyone is on the same page with the school uniform and will comply with it, then this will lead to less school distractions like bullying and picking on someone because they don’t wear the same clothes or have the same shoes as you do. Therefore, this is why i believe GWHS should have a school uniform.

    • Kapone, I disagree with your idea of school uniforms. Even with a school uniform, there will still be differences. For instance, students could choose many different brands of tennis shoes. There will always be people who think their clothes are better than yours and tease you for it. With all of today’s choices, there is always going to be something different to wear.

    • Kapone B. I agree with your opinion on school uniforms. Having clothes and shoes is cared for more than actual schoolwork. So we should have a dress code to make everyone seem equal.

  10. GWHS should not require students to wear uniforms because students should be allowed to express themselves. Students are older now and have more responsibilities that they have like more school work and getting to class without getting a tardy. The way they dress should be one of them. Uniforms stops people from being able to wear what they want. Someone might wake up late one day and only be able to find a pair of jogging pants, but if they have uniforms, they could get a tardy. Those are some reasons why GWHS should not require uniforms.

    • Curtasja, I agree with you 1000% . There were times when I woke up late and couldn’t find a specific pair of pants or a specific shirt. So i put on what was easier to get a hold on to. Also, as a former student from Westwood, I know how it feels to not be able to express myself and I did not like it at all !

    • Curtasja , I agree with you because if people have to wear uniforms , you wouldn’t be able to find out what they are like through their clothes.

  11. Many people have argued that George Washington High school should have uniforms, and others like it just the way it is: no uniform. People love to express the way they feel they in their clothing. Clothing is also some people’s passion so why take it away from them. There are obviously some downsides to not having a uniform policy and having the freedom on what to wear, but there are also many ways to fix them. Someone could wear their favorite sports jersey or favorite band t-shirt and that would be their way of expressing themselves. Having a uniform could prevent people from showing who they are.

    • I totally agree with you adamari. I believe that people do express themselves through the way they dress and if you take that away from them you are taking away their individuality.

  12. GWHS should not require students to wear uniforms as it can oppress creativity, cause undue expense, and reduce the high school experience. School uniforms take away the student’s expression of themselves. For instance, if a student has a favorite team, a school uniform would prevent them from wearing a jersey. School uniforms also create a huge burden on families as they have to buy extra clothes just for school use. Furthermore, school uniforms take away some of the fun out of high school. Most students enjoy picking out their own clothes every morning. For these reasons, GWHS should not require students to wear uniforms.

  13. I don’t agree that GWHS should have a school uniform. I don’t agree because it’s simply not needed. Why make everyone look the same when it’s not improving the learning process. 9th graders have had a dress code and was given ISS or OSS for not having a belt. By disciplinary actions over clothing students miss instruction and are behind in work. One reason uniforms are brought up is bullying, But bullying still gonna happen because some brands are considered better than others. So GWHS shouldn’t have a dress code because it doesn’t improve or interferes with the learning process.

  14. GWHS should not require the students to wear uniforms. Some people don’t have enough money to buy uniforms. Also, you can find out a person’s personality from the clothes they wear , but if they wear uniforms you won’t know. Another reason GWHS shouldn’t require uniforms is because some people won’t wear it even thought it is required.

  15. Should GWHS require students to wear a school uniform ? Absolutely not . Uniforms are bogus and extremely overrated ! For example ; this young man named , George Bluashki , said that he wore a school uniform from fifth grade to eightieth grade ! Now that is insane ! But he continued to say , ” It was horrible !” and now that he is in high school , he wants to express himself ! That’s the biggest reason to why GWHS shouldn’t wear uniforms ! Those students are on a high school level of learning , education , and maturity. Also , the curriculum that they’re learning , they should be able to dress comfortably. It also will increase their test scores as well. Now you see why GWHS shouldn’t wear uniforms !

    • Jaden, I agree with you that GWHS should not require students to wear uniforms. However, I do not agree with your reasoning on this. I do not understand how the uniforms would have any effect on students test scores. Students could be comfortable in uniforms, as long as the uniforms fit properly.

  16. George Washington High School should not require students to wear a uniform. At the present time there is a dress code at GWHS, but it is not strict at all. Students who do attend this school already have a difficult time following the current dress code. Everyone who went to middle school in the Danville Public School System has already had to wear a uniform for three years. These students are not going to want to have a dress code for another four years. Due to this, there will be several students who rebel against this dress code or uniform. George Washington High School has twelve hundred plus students who attend this school, this would make shopping for the uniforms very hard. In addition to the uniforms being hard to find, several students do not have the finances to afford these uniforms. Therefore, this school should not require students to wear a uniform.

    • Taylor I completely agree with you ! Having to wear one for three years was completely ridiculous. Also if we did have a dress code at GWHS not many students would follow it.

  17. GWHS students should not be required to wear uniforms. Freshmens in GWHS that went to Bonner or Westwood Middle school just stopped wearing uniforms. Some students most likely wouldn’t follow the dress code because, they express what or how they feel through what they are wearing. Some students would get tired of wearing the same required clothing to school everyday. Also, students wouldn’t want to come to school looking like the other students.

  18. GWHS should not require students to wear a uniform. Both middle schools in the Danville public school system require a uniform, which many students don’t even follow and break the rules for. Also uniforms are very stressful to the students and parents because of them having to find a specific set of clothing. Uniforms are completely unfair to students, they take away a students personality, style, and creativity. Even though GWHS has a simple dress code now many students have a hard time following it so having a more strict one would only make it harder. Furthermore most of the students at GWHS have a job that requires a uniform, so having one another one at school is completely ridiculous. These are a few reasons why GWHS shouldn’t require a uniform.

  19. I think we should not have a dress code reason why I think this is because I think people should have the right to wear what they want to and show how they dress. People have many different style and at George Washington high school should let the students here show off their style.

  20. As a student coming from Bonner,I dislike uniforms. I think that GWHS should not required students to wear a uniform. I understand why there’s a dress code that tells us what we can and cannot wear, but I don’t think a uniform policy is necessary. We should all have the privilege to express ourselves by how we dress. I don’t think not having a uniform policy affects the way we learn,I don’t wear a uniform anymore and I still do pretty well in school. I got very tired of wearing the same thing as everybody around me and I hated so much! In conclusion,we should be allow to express ourselves by what we wear. Not having a uniform policy does not affect the way we learn,is the student not succeeding.
