‘What Is Forgiveness?’ by Emilee

Forgiveness to me is when someone does something bad or hurtful to you and you are able to put it behind you. I don’t think you can forget most things but you can forgive. Some people say that they forgive someone but continue to hold a grudge so you aren’t exactly forgiving them. Everyone has had hurtful things done to them by many people I’m sure but it is better to just forgive and not spend your whole life dwelling on these things. We are all human and we all make mistakes and thought some may not realize, we have all done something to hurt someone else also and if we never knew it, they forgave us. Though it is very hard sometimes, it is pointless to dwell on things because no matter what is isn’t going to change. Instead of thinking about it all the time and ruining a relationship with a person, move on and forgive them.

‘What Is Forever?’ by Matthew

Forever can be a scary word. It all depends on how the word is used. The word forever means for eternity. If a person has read the Bible people have the choice of where they want to spend the rest of eternity. It is a weird feeling to know that anyone has the choice of where to spend eternity.

Another way the word forever is used is when a man and woman are married. It could be a very nervous feeling that your life is about to change forever. Also when someone commits a crime and has to spend the rest of their life in prison, never to be let out or be free. Forever can also be a good thing to be able to spend forever with someone that you deeply care about is a great feeling.

In conclusion, forever can be manipulated into being a good thing or a bad thing. Either way it will be for an eternity.

‘What I Wish I Could Change’ by Shanice

High school was great and all, but there were some things that I wish I could change. I wish I would have been more focused between my ninth and tenth grade years. I should have worked to my best ability. I also wish that our guidance counselors would have helped us chose some colleges starting off in the ninth grade. I’m a senior now and I don’t feel mentally or financially prepared for college. The only thing I do know is what college I want to go to.

I want younger students to know that high school goes by fast, so do your best at all times. I didn’t think this statement was true until now. I can still remember what I wore my first day of school from my head to my toes. When I think about things that I should have done, it brings tears to my eyes because I know I could have done way better.

The only thing I can do now is just prepare to do better in the future and help younger people understand that your high school years go by fast, so take time to plan the future, do good in school, and work to make money to support yourself after getting out of school. I think that all young people should start a savings account when they decide that they want to go to college.

‘What I Plan for My Future’ by Shanice

There isn’t much that I want from the future that can’t be accomplished. All that I planned for the future can be accomplished if I work hard. I plan to go to VCU for my undergraduate and graduate years. I want to become a successful dentist with two offices. One of the offices I will work at to train younger people and the other will be run under me but I will only visit to supervise. With the money I earn I will put toward more offices to be built. I will try to have a train of offices so I can have more money, and if I have more offices I could start charging the people lower prices.

After my business is settled I will look for a nice house. I want to live near the beach and sunshine so I would like to live somewhere like Georgia or Hawaii. Hawaii would be my get-away place. I would like to get married in my late twenties. I want to have maybe three children at least. I want two boys and a girl. I plan to start them a college fund early so they won’t have to worry about money for college or just money for their own personal use.

‘What I Plan to Be Doing in Four Years’ by Robin

In four years I plan to do a lot of different things. I want to go to a two year college and become a dental hygienist and take it very seriously and hope to like it as much as I do now. I hope to be in a serious job working as a dental hygienist and helping everyone I can. I want to be in a serious relationship and hope to be close to talking about marriage. They say you walk past the person you’ll be with every day, and I hope to be with that person in four years. I hope to have my own house, a car, a little dog, and a cat. I also hope to be able to take care of myself and not have to ask so many people to help me. I don’t hope to have a lot in four years, just to be happy.

‘What Could It Be?’ by Donte

What is love? What could it be?
Is it the feeling that I get when your body touches me?
Is it the tingle I feel whenever I see,
a smile on your face because you’re so happy?

When you’re happy, what could it be?
Could it, could it be me?
Or is it a mask on your face,
To cover what? Your unhappiness.
Unhappiness, unhappiness, What can I do?
Do you feel that I don’t pay attention to you?
If so, you’re ever so wrong, just ask me a question
Please go on.

When you ask questions, what could it be?
Are people jealous, wishing the could be me?
Or are they girls that don’t want to see,
Two people together that are so lovely?

‘Things That Cannot Be Bought with Money’ by Jessica

Love is the most important thing in life it can’t be bought with money. It is a feeling one has and no one can make you have it. Many people think money buys things like happiness. Happiness is an inner felling of contentment. Truth cannot be bought by money either. Truth comes from what’s real and honest. Hope and peace are inner feelings, also and they cannot be bought with money. Money can’t buy those things. Money buys the things you need such as food, shelter, and material things. They do not give you the inner feelings of love, hope, and happiness.

‘A Stray Dog Hiding from the Dog Catcher’ by Courtney

A stray dog hiding from the dog catcher is very scared and doesn’t want to go to the pound, even though it would be better for him at the pound, because he would have food to eat, clean fresh water to drink and a nice warm place to sleep. He also would get a good bath and would be fresh and clean. A stray dog is mostly dirty because he has nobody to care for him. People may give him food, but nobody bathes him and brushes his hair. Being caught by the dog catcher may be good because it gives the dog a chance to maybe be adopted and go home to a family that would take care of him. But depending on how the dog behaves, he may or may not be adopted. If the dog is very aggressive, they may put him to sleep.

‘Still Confused’ by Sheri

At this point I really don’t know
what’s going to happen between
me and you
And I’m truly frightened
And scared
Because I don’t want to live
my life without you
And I can’t
I’m just not prepared

People are telling me to just
drop you, get over it, and
move on
But they don’t understand how I
feel about you
And not being with you,
My heart would be completely gone

I don’t understand why love
has to be so complicated
And why it has to hurt
me so bad
But I just can’t help myself
I just want to be with you
And if I can’t then
For awhile I’ll be very miserable and sad

‘Senior Lunch’ by Montoya

My issue with having senior lunch is that I don’t think the seniors have enough time to leave, eat lunch, and come back before the bell rings. Having senior lunch is a privilege and an option, but of course, I’m a senior and I like to leave. I think that all seniors should have more time to eat if they leave because it’s hard trying to leave and get back in time for class. The closest from school is McDonald’s and Subway, but because they are so close to the school everyone goes there to eat. Because everyone goes there they are very busy and it makes it hard to get our food fast. So if the seniors had more time to eat, it would make it easier and a lot less hectic.
